I just purchased a new laptop for tuning purposes. Along with the problems associated with Windows 7 and Romraider, now I can't get my Tactrix cable to be recognized.
Does anybody know where I can download the driver for the 1.3 Cable? It is an older one, but I works fine with my other computer that is in Windows XP

OK. Got that installed along with the newer Ecuflash.
I am able to connect to my ECU in Learning view and ECuflash, but not using the Romraider logger? I have all the defs' up to date and the computer recognizes the cable and drivers. When I open the logger, the drop down box that normally shows all the USB ports, shows none, and therefore I can't connect to the logger.
Any ideas on that?

Did you download from the link?
There's a driver for Openport 2.0 that is no supported by RR yet. But if you choose the one in the link, 1.42 then it should work fine.
When you plug in your cable there should be a list of Serial COM ports in the device manager. That's what the Logger would use to query the ECU.

Openport 2.0 is the new Tactrix cable? right? I have the older 1.3 which has always worked fine. I downloaded the 'ECUflash 1.42 Here' first one in the list. I says it includes all the 1.3/2.0 drivers needed.
When I plug in the cable and open the logger, there are no Com Ports listed int he drop down box. It is blank.

So no COM ports in the Device Manager when the cable is plugged in?

Nope. And now it keeps saying that the ' Logger Definition is not configured' ?
I downloaded the latest def files. I put them in the same source file as the rest of the Romraider info. I updated the def. manager and sourced the def files to the location where I put them. I can open maps, but the logger now keeps giving me the same message.

What is supposed to happen is, you plug in the cable and the USB driver loads. It should also load a virtual COM port (VCP) driver which shows up in the Serial port section of Device Manager. Check the USB Driver configuration in Device Manager with the cable plugged in, it should have a check box indicating to load the VCP.
Once you have that working then the Logger should be able to find the port. Try re-installing the driver, it's in the OpenEcu>ECUFlash>drivers folder.
As for the Logger defs not loading...did you download the Logger defs as well as the Editor defs, then point the Editor to the editor defs and the Logger to the logger defs?

OK, I got the definition issue figured out.
I followed the directions you gave step by step and everything checked out. Everything in the device manager matched. I guess my next step is to try reloading the driver? Even though the cable is being recognized by both ECUflash and Learning View? At the risk of sounding like an idiot once I find the drivers in the Openecu files, how do I reload them?

There is an exe file, DPInst.exe that should do it.
So the COM port is showing up when the cable is plugged in, what port number?
You can also try deleting the 'romraider.log' file from the RR install directory. Plug everthing in and start up the logger.
Post the 'romraider.log' file here as it may have some info in it that may help if the problem is not resolved.

Load the driver manually. Pretty much what 75% of the people have to do. Even with XP I have had to do this. The cable does not have to be connected to the OBD II port. When you plug in the cable and it says 'new device' and asks you if you want to automatically find drivers or manually, pick manually. Hit browse and then go to the driver location in the Ecuflash program files and select it.

I would have it plugged into the car with the ignition on. I have had this issue and I had to completely uninstall everything, romraider, ecuflash, drivers, etc... and start over. Mine still does this randomly and I just close out of romraider and relaunch it.

Well, I've decided to have my 'computer guy' wipe the hard drive of the 64 Bit windows 7 and revert back to XP 32 Bit.
Hopefully that will resolve all the compatibility issues I'm having.
